Katy Perry Music Video Investigated For Possible Environmental Damage

Katy Perry shot portions of her new “Lifetimes” music video at the picturesque location of the dunes of S’Espalmador in Spain’s Balearic Islands. And now an investigation has been opened into whether the filming caused environmental damage to the protected area, which is located in one of the most ecologically prosperous enclaves in the area. According to the Environment Department of the Balearic Islands, the production company for the music video did not request proper authorization before filming. The department shared an official press release on Tuesday (August 14), which stated that the section of the video filmed in the dunes of S’Espalmador was done in a prohibited area that was clearly marked off by ropes. The statement noted that the video is not technically a “crime against the environment,” but rather an infringement, as filming “can be authorized” when requests are made through the proper channels.
